本身装画像データベース〈近代日本の身装文化〉は、和装と洋装が拮抗したダイナミックな期間である明治維新(1868年)以降、第二次世界大戦終結(1945年)までを対象として、その文化変容の様子をデータベース化しています。当時の新聞小説挿絵、写真、図書中の図版、ポスターなどで構成されており、とくに新聞小説挿絵は、写真には収められていないような身装(下着姿や寝間着姿)、および各階層の日常生活の情景が生き生きと活写され、その信憑性は高く、当時の様子を知る格好の画像情報です。
The chronological coverage of this database is from the Meiji Restoration in 1868 to the end of World War II in 1945. This period, when kimono and western-style dress contended with each other, was very dynamic and characteristic for Japanese clothing culture. Information on acculturation of costume during this period found in illustrations of newspaper novels and books, photographs, and posters has been stored in the database.
